Can't really think of anywhere romantic in Uxbridge to spend the afternoon. There are some nice pubs in Denham village - but you probably wouldn't want to spend all afternoon in one!

Harrow on the Hill is nice. The Old Etonian is a great restaurant.

Alternatively, Pinner. The High Street is very pretty, and there are a few pubs (The Queens Head being the nicest), plus Cafe Uno, Cafe Rouge and a couple of other restaurants.

Harrow Weald - Old Redding. What about a walk in the woods followed by afternoon tea in Grims Dyke hotel which used to be W S Gilbert's residence (of Gilbert and Sullivan fame). Old Redding also has stunning views over London as it's one of the highest points in Middlesex.

Hmm, romantic places. Depends on what you want to do. If you want to go for a nice meal then you would have to go up the Hill in Harrow. Plenty of nice restaurants (Cafe Cafe, Incanto etc) and a nice pub (The Castle) with good food too. You could stroll over to the church and the viewpoint and look out accross London and see if you can spot any of the landmarks. Other than that there isn't much else romantic about Harrow.

As for Uxbridge I can't say too much comes to mind.

You have to look pretty hard hard for romantic spots in Harrow, but I'd agree with the bloke above that the hill is very pleasant, nice to walk around and with several good restaurants. The church yard by the school is famous for its view (it inspired Byron when he was a pupil at the school) ...but its best in the summer.

Uxbridge itself is an identi-suburb, full of the usual chain stores and screaming kids, but there's some very nice countryside only a couple of miles beyond.

I worked in Harrow once. It wasn't very romantic. How about getting on a train to the countryside?
