Well, eye contact is always important. I'm assuming that you are talking about being more social with the customers. After making eye contact, greet them. Ask them if you can help them in some way. Ask them what they are looking for today. Comment on the weather. Tell them about any sales that are on if there are any. Ask if they have been in your store before. Don't be pushy, just be friendly. If the person doesn't seem interested in chatting, say - I'll be right over here if you need anything. But I think alot of times you will find people are more than happy to chat as they shop.
