I hope more games have split screen (4 players) capabilities.
We have this projector and we would throw big lan parties for Halo, we'd have 4 to a team and each team would split a screen. But since the screen was the size of a wall it didn't really limit game play.

with modern games pushing the machines to the very limits in normal modes, a split screen mode is often beyond the scope of the game engine. this can be seen in the latest split screen games as a reduction in scenery and speed when running a split screen.
So in order for the game to look it's best todays developers are dropping splitscreen in favor of the less machine intensive networked and internet gaming (Each machine handles it's own displays and sends minimal information to the other machines in the game)

Split screen gaming will be confined to the past soon.
Split screen was only really good with 2 players anyway ,anymore and the screen was too small to enjoy it right.

Less view, less fun. I think that's the main problem for split screen games.
Now is the time for virtual social time. As the technology advances, we play with other players without seeing each other face to face. But, I agree with you. If game moves on without "social past time", in the future we won't be a social creature anymore!

well, unless you have a HUGE tv then any more than 2 players and it gets too small to be effective. It also stops cheaters looking at your window and seeing you sneak up on him and countering in FPS's. On the 360, did you notice that you can plug it into 2 tv's? This is so you can play head to head without seeing eachother's screens.

I think because they want people to intereact w/ other people in the world. Besides, it is actually funner! You really don't konow who u r playing with, and makes it more challenging( If the person is challenging enough)
