platinum is the way to go....it stays white longer....i have white gold split wedder bands and a gold engagement ring....unfortunately the white gold gets a gold tarnish as it is weaker than the yellow gold and i constantly have to have them rhodium plated.....platinum is a little more expensive but definitely worth it

I say platinum definitely! A friend of mine got her husband the classiest platinum ring ever and it looked gorgeous. It was divided in half and one was super polished and the other was dulled. With wear over time they both eventually have the same sheen to represent the two of them becoming one when they married. It's a little corny but I thought it was really cute at the same time!

if you are fairly well-off, go with platinum because it has significantly more value. if platinums going to break the bank, go with the white gold. what really matters is that youre going to get engaged, and im sure the recipient would love it regardless of the metal of the band.

Platiun for sure, because it is the most expensive. And go for the biggest diamond possible. You only get married once so this ring is a life long investment. ;)
