World of Warcraft appeals to a wide spectrum of people. In fact, I would say that it would be the opposite of what a stereotypical secluded gamer would play. It is a very social game, and one of the aspects which have kept me playing for the last 2 years. Of course, you get out of it what you put into it. In the last 2 years, I have been in one guild, and I have formed several friendships within the guild. These are real people, and they're not all bratty immature players. :P The people in my guild range from high school students to college students and people in their 30s with steady jobs & managerial positions.

I personally found Warcraft III: Frozen Throne to be more addicting than World of Warcraft. My reason is that in World of Warcraft, I found that I never got anywhere. In Frozen Throne, I played DotA, and I won. A lot. This was much more satisfying, not to mention I could play for an hour and feel a sense of completion. You can literally play WoW forever and not ever get anywhere. Personally, I like to win, therefore I liked completing the smaller games. Therefore, it was more addicting.

World of warcraft, or stated above as wow, is addictive bc its a way to recreate urself. there are no limetes in the game as far as some people being faster and some slower, and the playing field is always level or can be made level with the right amount of time and gold. Its all about the adventure of being some one else. and making a new life. U should watch south park season 10 episode 8, its the wow episode. i like the way they put it "in real life im just a simple geologist, but in here im scyler protecter of the allience." People get into this game bc of this simple fact,
all in all the ability to play with other people and the ability to recreate urself make this game more then fulfilling to those who can harness its power, so to say.

It's kinda simple really.
World of Warcraft or WoW is really just a massive chat room. With the ability to create your own chat lists, and a way to take out your aggression on others (dueling).....And if you really want there are modifications out there that allow you to use your various messengers in there as well......It is a good way to waste time between posts....And lets face it, video games are not for geeks anymore.
