the four VENEMOUS ( not poisonous!! poison is something you get through the mouth or mucuus glands, venom is something injected into you) snakes in Central / South are the Diamond Back Rattlesnake, The Pygmy Rattle Snake, the Coral Snake , and the Water Moccasin ( Cotton Mouth). I am not sure of the individual species found in the FT> Lauderdale area.

Ft. Lauderdale is a rather unique area because it has both native species as well as introduced species from many countries. Yes, there are venomous snakes in Ft. Lauderdale but they are not plentiful. I have captured Eastern Diamond-back Rattlesnakes (Crotalus adamanteus) Pigmy rattlesnakes (Sistrurus miliaris), Water Moccasins (Agkistrodon piscivorus) and Coral Snakes (Micrurus fulvius) Several species of water snakes and garter snakes, ring-neck snakes, rat snakes, black racers, and I captured a six foot Burmese python and a baby boa there as well.
