Horoscopes are vague descriptions of a possible future. They are vague to increase the possibility that one will find there life matches what the horoscope predicted. Two Libra's can lead drastically different lives and still have something in their horoscope that matches up with what has occurred to them. Of course, most Cancer's and Virgo's will probably match up as well. So it doesn't really tell you anything other than that life is doomed to happen, and stuff is doomed to happen in life. The human brain is the key, because the brain likes patterns and whenever you find that a perceived pattern exists, the brain clings to that and discards whatever information doesn't meet the patterns criteria. Astrologers and Psychics are just people who are adept at selling a person a pattern for their brain to read.

the way i see it,
horoscopes have been around here for a veryyy loooooong time...and why does it still seem to exist? I think some part of it holds a bit of truth in a person's life, not all, but 'some' part of it...
I don't read the daily horoscopes, as i tend to see that it has a lot of 'bull' in it[their only judging by the sun sign alone, rather than on a person's whole chart, which everybody's, is obviously, different ], or maybe i only believe what the horoscopes have to say about an individual being[for eg; me being a capricorn], and how they get along with the rest of the zodiac and that's it. I rather go in-depth, or look at my moon, venus and/ saturn, or which houses they are situated in... how i intereact, what interests me, who interests me.. rather than what will happen to me tommorrow? ...
a good part of it, i can say is quite understanding and agreeable, while the other's im still not sure about...
'why' i still choose to believe in it, or some parts still curious about ...is because i've seen patterns re-occuring/happening everywhere in my life that it becomes uncanny.. for eg; how one sign seems to only go with this star sign and not the other , esp. when it comes down to relationships...
so.. i dont know how things works out like that.. but i try not to take it seriously to the point that i wont hang around with this person nemore, because the 'astrologers' tell me to stay the heck away from them.. lol.. but i guess i just hang around it for fun.. and maybe the truth will one day come out...

I think horoscopes and astrology shouldn't even be grouped together. Horoscopes have been so over commercialized. Your personal outlook is as different as the next persons because your sun sign does not give a complete outlook on who you are, there are so many other factors.
So, to answer your question, horoscopes are fun to read but lack truth, so at best there entertaining :)

everyone has a "astro fingerprint" with the positions of 10 planets in the sky, even if people were to have the same birthday and year. the houses would all be different if they were born in so mutch as 5 mins apart from eachother.
what does this have to do with horoscopes? magazines newspapers usualy dont take into considerations the rest of the planets or the houses, they rely solely on transits to your sun sign, and on aspects within the sky at the time just because, the sun sign is the easiest to figure out. so the magazines use astrology and apply it in a very vague way, to "dumb it down" for the average person.
if you wish to try a full horoscope tailored to you try http://www.astro.com you will need birth time date year and place for it to be the most accurate.

Astrology is just one of the many coping mechanisms people have developed to deal with life.
It's just like the way people turn to religion, juju, or science.
Astrology would not still be around if there was not a grain of truth in it. What makes it seem valid at first to most people is the accurate descriptions of their personality based on sun (or star) sign. 99% of people can recognise the main traits of their star sign in themselves and others.
Where people doubt astrology is when it tries to predict future events. The predictions basically fail very badly.
But when it comes to analysing personality types, astrology is uncannily accurate.

Sigh. As far as I have seen, Horoscopes never turn out right, very less chance or a coincidence. I don't believe in them.

It gives people false hope. Look for your real scope inside of you....follow your intuition. I always say a little prayer before doing so.

I've often wondered the same thing. I mean, does every single capricorn, cancer, libra....
have the same exact kind of day everyday?
