If Saddam's appeal fails and he will be hung... what would happen if the hanging doesn't kill him? Do they try again? Are they allowed to attempt to hang him again?

Yes they will hang him again if the first attempt fails. Usually the sentence is includes the phrase " ... until dead", meaning if it accidentally doesn't happen on the first attempt, he still will hang.

He cannot survive a hanging. If the hanging goes right, it will break his neck, rendering him unconscious, and eventually strangulate him. The only way he could survive a hanging is if the hanging was not conducted properly, in which case they would string him up again and do it all over.

Also, some of the responses you've read here about western countries commuting sentences if the prisoner survives the first attempt are false. Complete fiction. There have been many instances of a condemned prisoner surviving his or her first execution attempt--they continue executing them until they die. That's the law in the US. There is no second chance law or third time lucky laws.

Hanging generally does the trick.

If somehow he survived his execution the death sentence would probably be carried out by the Iraqis. Most Western societies would would likely commute his sentence, but the Iraqis have too much hatred for Saddam to do that.

Um...I'm priiiittty sure he'll be dead for good on the first try, because everyone that has been lynched in history died! Anyways, isn't hanging people unconstitutional? I mean I thought that kind of capital punishment ended by WWII !?

I taught my daughter not to play the what if game. If they intend to hang him,he'll die. As for 2nd time, Iraq is not as evolved as we are they would go for a 2nd. time
