This sort of thing can be a nightmare i know, but first of all don't worry about it! I got married this year and had quite a few guests of your age group to my evening party cos my youngest daughter was 17 at the time.
We put 'Dress up or Smart Casual - but not as casual as jeans' on the wedding invitation. First of all check the invitation if you have one. If not, ask other people who are going.
If you cannot find out the sort of wedding it will be at all, then play safe with say a nice dress or skirt (not too short) or smart trousers and a pretty top, maybe strappy, with a jacket to cover up.keep warm if necessary. Don't buy new if you cant afford to, just go as smart as you can and pretty it up with new, cheap accessories, like jewellery and bag.
Above all, dont worry about it. No-one would want their wedding to be a source of stress to a 17 year old about clothes!
Have you not got a mum, sister etc to advise you?
Have fun!

depends upon the wedding that is. if the invitation said "formal" then you need to wear a long dress but if it did not say formal wear something semi-formal. i would go with a vibrant dress such as maybe red, teal, babyblue, or some pastels. choose the dress that is appropriate-length wise according to the inviation you have receved. or you can do a timeless look: the vintage strapless dress with lace on it-it is a classy or just a simple black dress! wear some heels but something that you will be comfortable in and you can dance in, have your make up done but not overdone, bring a shawl with you in case it is freezing, a small clutch, your hair should look simple and effortless as though you did not spend a lot of time: give the soft curls a try!

Bearing in mind the time of year, I'd suggest a trouser suit with a fitted jacket. You could keep it fairly plain and accessorise with maybe a cashmere jumper underneath (if it's going to be outside for any length of time) or a nice top if it's indoors. Gorgeous belt, handbag and killer heels and hey presto - you'd look like dynamite!
You could always try the personal shopper service at places like Debenhams - they are trained to find styles that suit your body shape, budget and occasion and you're under no obligation to buy (so you could nick their ideas and go somewhere less expensive!). Have a lovely time!

Are you male or female. What time of the day is this wedding? What did the invitation say?
If you male and the dress code is formal you wear formal clothes and the same with ladies.

Depending on the time of day, it should probably be "after five" attire.
