hey, i kinda feel the same way too! you know, i kinda have the feeling that todays new video games are more of just having more fun in seeing things crash and people kill people. there is no more story behind some games that i enjoy most. i mean, they are not looking for the story anymore, as long as the graphics is state of the art, they tend to forget the reason why players play the game. video games are kind of getting a little boring.

Mature-themed games sell. They're selling more and more now that gamers are getting older. This is not going to change.
The market does seem to be flooded with depictions of realistic violence in games, but is that so surprising, considering the big draw of each new console generation is how much more realistic the graphics can be?
If you're tired of the violence in gaming, you've got options. Nintendo has generally kept away from overly violent games with their first party titles, and those are always among the best games available. There are fun, less violent titles on the other consoles (the Katamari Damacy series is a great example), but they're not as popular.
I know what you mean when you say that you're not really looking forward to any new titles. I'm getting to that point myself. The newer games look great, but it's mostly the same old stuff with better graphics. I'm growing disillusioned with most games, and it has nothing to do with the violence. It's the lack of creativity that's killing me.

Well, not every situation is the same, but most cross dressing men are not gay and are not cheaters. They live normal lives other than their fetish. If you take some time to do the research, you will find that to be true. My guess is that he's been a cross dresser for quite sometime and the gag you went along with made him feel comfortable enough to come out to you. Many cross dressers start as little boys wearing mommies clothes and it progresses from there. Psychologists do not consider cross dressing a serious issue unless it starts interfering with other parts of life and marriage. For example, if he would rather go out dressed as a woman instead of participating in normal family events. Or, if he can't refrain from cross dressing at times that would obviously be embarrassing to you or if the cross dressing interferes with your sex life. If it is something he does on his own without really bothering anyone, and the rest of his behavior is normal, it really won't be an issue unless you make it one. I understand it is a really weird thing to deal with, but cross dressers have been around for thousands of years. It is a very old fetish, and like I said, most of the time it is innocuous.

I'm looking forward to Gran Turismo 5 with it's pretty graphics & the next Grand Theft Auto which is bound to very violent. Resident Evil 5 should also be a gore fest.
I too have been playing games since the early 80's, some of my favourites where Chucky Egg, Pacmac, Paperboy, Space Invaders, Blitz on the Vic20 - in this game you only had to hit the space bar to drop a bomb! and the original Mario Bros games.
We even had one of those Pong tennis game consoles.
Not sure what's wrong with you, maybe you've finally outgrown video games?

There are some games out there without violence but just like sex, violence sells.
I do know what you mean with current games compared to what came out years ago, and it's all down to that one word 'Gameplay'.
I think that in the 80's graphics were so limited that the effort was put into how it played, how easy the character moved around, the ease in which you made things happen, just the whole feel of the game.
I prefer to play games on my pc because the PS2 is just too twitchy on some games, something simple like putting the pointer where you want becomes harder than the tasks themselves.
Technology has moved forward in lots of ways but we've taken a step back in others.

The problem with the current generation of games isn't violence over gameplay. it is graphics over gameplay, and sequelitis (is that even a real word...).
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against good sequels, and have 11 of the Final Fantasy Series and the 3 PS2 GTAs. the problem i have is with the constant deluge of titles with barely any changes between one version and the next - These are mainly sports titles, now i know that the basic game doesnt change, but do we really need new versions every 6 months (even more during the world cup - and they still expect you to pay £30-40)
it is lamentable that when smaller companies are bought out by the big ones, the more experimental and innovative titles are then back-shelved or cancelled all together in favor of generic titles... it annoys me as I often find the more innovative titles are usually fun and rewarding.
There are small companies out there that produce amazing games. Nippon Ichi and Level 5 titles should definatly be on your list if you like RPGs and Strategy titles but these pearls are often lost amongst the slew of big budget titles that are over hyped and rarely deliver the promised results. About the only big company that does usually deliver is Rockstar with its GTA and Bully games (yes they are violent, but they are good games as well)

Finally the full version is avaiable!
Pacman Original is one of the best and addictive games ever created. All you have to do is consume all the fruits in the environment and also you have to escape from your evil predators.
It's the best game of its category.

Violence seems to sell........
Although I do agree with you. There are 'normal' type games out there but the majority do tend to be predominately violent. Is it any wonder our kids grow up with no manners or thought for others if this is the environment they have been bought up in..
The prices of these things are crazy now too. How much money do these game manufacturers want!!
I remember the time a cassette had to be bought and a game loaded taking upto 5 minutes. These only costed a few quid... with inflation now they would have probably cost about £8 but a lot of these new games are £50 or so... they are only CD's too ... far simpler and faster to produce....
No wonder so many break the law and get hold of pirate copies...

I don't think that they've lost the concept overall. All sorts of crap video games are made however, but more as a filler in between the great releases. Look at the Final Fantasy series for instance, it's still going strong 12 releases later. Same goes for Zelda, Mario Bros., etc. The problem isn't the video game companies in my opinion, it's the consumer demand for new games that causes the crap ones to be released.

I don't think its the next generation at fault here, more the companies that code them. The factors are that now graphics etc are so good, the emphasis on gameplay gets lost, and in a saturated games market not many have the balls to be original and break out of genre.
Credit for Nintendo for at least trying something new with the Wii though - more innovation like that is what we need.

i agree with you, too many game companies are resorting to violence to sell games. like the GTA series, Scarface, Saints Row. But that is what is seeming to sell at the moment. but fighting games, Streetfighter, DOA, and others have always been about fighting but not nearly as violent as the 'new' games recently. and someone said before congrats to the Wii cause they are still making good non-volent games and for that im greatful that all companies arnt just out for sales, and support clean wholesome fun amongst gamers
