He did have a good season, but he wasn't that great in the UEFA Champions League or the World Cup. Do you think he deserves it, and if not who should have won it?

He wasn't that great in the UEFA Champions League and World Cup, in fact, he was utterly rubbish. (Well perhaps, not much at the start of the Champions League). In my opinion, the award was given to the best dribbler in the world and NOT to the best player for the season. However, not many players have stood out last year, and so Ronaldinho won the award.
Despite not being a supporter of Arsenal, I'd reluctantly have to agree that the award should have gone either to Thierry Henry or Jens Lehmann. Henry is a player that is constantly overlooked for the awards, dunno why. Neways, he played well last year and inspired Arsenal to the Champions League final. Much more memorable was his goal which eliminated Brazil from the World Cup.
However, for me the player who well and truly deserves the award is Lehmann. He was astounding for the whole season. In fact, I can't even count the number of spectacular saves he made to keep Arsenal in a match. I remember the match when Liverpool beat Arsenal 1-0, where Liverpool should have won by some 5-0, but Lehmann kept them in the match. But, this form was not for only one match, it continued for the whole season till the World Cup (that penalty shootout against Argentine). Lehmann is also the bravest keeper actually (he does not hesitate to advance). In fact, the only blot on his season was the sending-off in the Champions League final.
Alternatively, I would consider Andrea Pirlo and Fabio Canavarro, but they were part of 2 cheating teams: Juventus and AC Milan, and did not do great in the Champions League.

I dont know whether he should deserve the award or not, u only tell me based on the facts i suggest...ok..
1. His dedication to futbol
2. His skill ( god level... )
3. Pace in the match..
4. Style of playing
5. Honesty while playing.. to the players and to the team as well
6. Top scorer in the league
7. World's best CAM player
8. After all hes the hard worker....
But unfortunately he does not do well in the world cup for some reasons...u do face troubles in u r life even...thats y it does not mean that u will not acheive success again....he will aslo do that..

No I dont think he deserved it.
Even though he is a brilliant player and the best attacking player going around.
Though since the 2002 world cup final he hasnt been able to deliver when his performance counts the most.
His performances at the world cup and the championsleague final are good examples of this.
Cannavaro would of been my pick after his perfomances for Juventus/Real Madrid and being the captain of a world cup winning side (Italy)

I dont know really cause although he is a good player i can think of quiet a few english based players that deserved it more namely john terry helped chelsea to another title, theirry henry helped arsenal to the finals (that the referee won for barca), steven gerrard helped liverpool overcome west ham in the FA cup (it was a seriously good goal) and who can forget JENS LEHMANN looked at the saves he made in the champions league (two that caught my eye the riquilme penalty and the save against raul the one where he got the slightest of touches to keep it out) all these players were influentual to their teams throughout the season.

I don't think he deserve it. In the Brazilian prospect I think Kaka had performed better than him but in the world cup point of view Cannavaro should have really won it.

No. This award is given to the best player and he simply is not. The award should go to a player with consistency and brilliance, such as Kaka, Riquelme and Pirlo who are all goal scorers and architects.

his brazil crew lose the game because french participant shittted frogs everywhere in the football field making it puzzling and too slippery for brazilans to triumph over france and they lost the game. costing his opportunities to win FIFA participant of the year. blame it to french gamers and their frogs!!!
