If you can, head to Mt Faber to catch the sun rise. It will be nice. If you want a beach view, then either Changi Beach or East Coast Park will be the place to catch your sun rise.

OMG on our farm it is so beautiful in the summer during a sunrise or a sunset to look out over the pastures and see our three horses romping and playing there and the site with the sun either coming up or going down is the most beautiful to me. No other place like your own back yard.
LOL just read the rest of the question sooo guess you cant get here(USA)by bus or anything cause we do not have bus service in the country unless the cows want to make some quick cash..

go out to some kelong for a night and stay up to wait for sunrise. Really very very nice. I only managed to watch the sunset cos was too cloudy the next morning. Waited in vain. But was a nice experience. Windy 24hrs a day.
Other than that, Mt faber.

by bus? well, the eastern most you can go in Singapore is Changi point on bus 59 (from bishan interchange)
otherwise take a boat trip out from changi point jetty to pulau ubin (go the night before and camp out) and trek out to chek jawa if it is low tide (check the tide table at http://app.nea.gov.sg/cms/htdocs/article.asp?pid=2293).
remember to bring a good camera!

Don't bother to travel, waste time and money only. Look out of your window or go to your neighours house and catch a glimpse.
