HELP! I am 25 weeks pregnant with my second child and the father was recently killed in a car accident! He was the only income source in our household for the duration of this pregnancy as I am diabetic and have been forced not to return to work until after the baby is born. Do you know where I can get a free breast pump as I am in dire need of one as I will be the main money maker in the house after my son comes. I also have another child to provide for.....if I am to provide for my children I will undoubtedly have to return to work early and a breast pump would be the only way for me to feed the baby the best!

Try La Leche. Also, look in the phone book for a pregnancy helpline--they can help you with more than just a breast pump. And try some local churches--they very often will have programs to help you too! Prayers coming your way!

Will you still have insurance? My insurance payed for a hospital-grade pump for two months after I gave birth, and then we could rent it for $45 a month after that. Also, I agree with the other answers about calling your La Leche League just to see if they would be able to do anything. I'm really sorry for your loss.

im sorry for your loss. I would ask the hospital or your dr or perhaps the red cross. what ever you do do NOT accept a used one from anyone even if its free, you dont know what condition its in or if its clean or stuff like that. Target or babies r us has them for pretty cheap other wise you can do as I ddi and rent one from the hospital after your baby is born, it was about $20 a week and worked better than the store bought ones. maybe f you explain your situation they can help you out. i wish you the best

You need to visit your local WIC office. In some states, they will provide working mothers with pumps.

Using your hands to massage the breast worked for me.

I tried to use breast pumps but for some reason it never worked, my GP told me to use my hands to massage the milk out and it worked.

Congrats, and commisserasions

Check with your insurance company. My wife got hers for free and it was a really great one! A lot of companys will cover that sort of thing.

If you join the freecycle group in your area you may be able to pick one up there. Just search freecycle on the net and go from there!
