If one thing is certain it is that life on Earth will end and Earth itself will eventually die. How will this happen?

The Earth itself (not life on Earth) could die in about 4-5 billion years time. As the Sun comes to the end of it's life, it will expand and engulf the orbits of Mercury, Venus and possibly Earth too. If it doesn't engulf Earth then the Earth will remain in orbit around the huge Sun until the Sun has 'puffed' off it's outer layers and shrunk to a white dwarf. The Earth could then be released from it's orbit if the Sun's gravity has diminished enough, and set out on it's own way through our solar system and galaxy. What happens then is anyone's guess....

Science tells us that as the Sun ages, it will expand in size and engulf the earth in time, killing all life present. That does not mean the end of the humanity. I am sure that by that time we will be living in space, so the humanity will go on. I should say I do not believe humans can kill all life in the planet. No matter what happens, some life will survive, at least until the Sun becomes a red giant. A different way to ask your question is how the humanity will end. I do not believe in Independence Day scenarios. If the extraterrestrials were that way, they would have conquered the earth long ago, maybe at the time of dinosaurs. I do not believe we will self-destruct. I believe we will continue as before, a general direction of progress. Yes, there will be steps backguard, but in general, we are going ahead. Another possibility is a natural disaster. A killer asteroid may hurt but not kill the humanity. A virus may hurt also. Other events are also possible, but I believe it is unlikely they may destroy the humanity. All stars go thru stages as they age and burn their fuel. Our Sun is middle aged, and will keep shining as today for five billion years. Around that time, it will be using another atomic reaction to burn, will expand in size, and become what some call a red giant. As it continues spending fuel, it will shrink in size, and become a white dwarf, barely emitting light. A white dwarf is basically a radioactive cinder, with little light. There maybe a point where the cost of extracting energy from the Sun is greater than the benefit we get from it. We would be living out of our "savings" until those ran out. At this point, the humanity may die, unless by then we have interstellar travel, and we move on to a better place.

When this war ends and a couple of civilzations fall, Rome will rebuild societies and help pick up the pieces. During this period, the Anti-Christ will come in to power, and all will be destroyed after his 7 year reign.

That, or we'll go as the Mayans predicted and be wiped out by Natural Disasters by Dec 23 2010

life on earth will have a horrible painful and sloooow death from all the sh*t we humans are throwing into the atmosphere... one by one all species will die (I'm not sure about insects though).

Later the earth will some time in the future be swallowed by the sun becoming a scorched ball in space (if anything remains after the tremendous heat of the sun).

Life on Earth- probably nuclear war

Earth- Earth will cease to exist in a few billion years, when our dying sun grows exponentially larger, and consumes the Earth in it's growth.

well....earth can be declared brain dead when no animals exists on its surface .....well then, fully dead if only plants die out .....one day or the other one of this or both of this is gonna happen ......

but , there is hope.......

....oh dont screw yr brains earth might remain intact long enough for earth to swallow blondie, but i assure you none of us , not even our strain of offspring be here to see the trecherous thing.... they will be watching it like some spectacle tht occurs like the eclipse on their homes with their wifes and chldren ( i.e. if there are two sexes at tht time cause it is being roumered in the major biological scientific soceities based on extensive survey tht the next major evolutionary thing are gonna be shemales !! aah!! scary !! well with the only difference being tht they will be able to breed all by themselves if they please that is!! ) hopefully having enough general knowledge to understang that small barren rock was their home .....or the place their ancestors had originated ........

and hey no one mad enough in this world will have nukes to pour the nuke puke all over the earth ......ya well and of course teroorist 'aint gonna do it as they do thir dieing to attain freedom and not to harm evry one on earth so tht no one may live ......so our race will propably survive long enough to abandon the planet ......just b'cause they found a better place with more resources remember agent smith ?? ""humans are parasites"" or to survive.... bah same **** ......

unles a huge asteroid double the size of ......oh....leve it just half the size of our planet is on collision course with earth .....<> or some aliens land and vapourize us ......or.....ya u tink!!

My vote is that a portal to hell will open up and the world will become overrun by demons. To combat this the planet will release it's life energies, but overtax it's resources and turn into a dry empty husk floating in the void of space.

i think the earth will die because of the ultimate merging of the two galaxies: our milky way galaxy and the andromeda six billion years from now. the earth would be toasted
