Let me tackle your question
There are different RAM brands available in the market which comes in different frequencies. Even if you plug two different RAM's with different frequencies your system wont throw any error, But will fall shortage of performance drastically. Since all the files during system execution occupies your ram memory there should be synchronised speed between your hardware [RAM] if they are not in the same speed then your system will compromise with the lower frequency even if you have a high frequency ram. My recommendation would be better go for a single stick of RAM so that you can avoid the frequency mismatch which will boost your system performance heavily...

Depends on your motherboard. Turn your comp off and open it up and look at the motherboard. The RAM sticks go in long thin slots (I am assuming you know what they look like), if you have multiple RAM ports then you SHOULD be able to use multiple RAM sticks. If you have any of the original documentation on your motherboard, it will tell you how much RAM it can use, etc. A general rule of thumb for multiple RAM sticks tho is that it helps if the 2 RAM sticks are the same type or size, if not the larger stick needs to go in the first or main slot.

After improve to a sparkling motherboard. ensure u get an greater moderen motherboard which help middle 2 duo or middle 2 quad. U ought to get a least a duo middle cpu to hv 2 cpus working at the same time. U cant hv 2 cpus while making use of ur previous p4 HT. buying a sparkling cpu no must be a matching kind and velocity, if u purchase comparable kind,it relatively is going to likely be comparable as ur previous, isnt it good. So get an greater moderen processors in bigger L2 cache, FSB and oso clock velocity. DDR2 and DDR r distinctive. DDR is 184-pins yet DDR2 is 240-pins. U cant use ur previous ram in ur new board.

as long as the motherboard is able to do the type of ram you are using it should work, however it is best to stick to the same type of sticks for ram, just for ease and it allows for the motherboard to use ram of the same speed so one stick isnt slower than the other. Read your motherboard manual to see if it is capable of using the ram you want to use, and if you have doubts ask a computer store near your house.

you re question is quite 'questionable'. but, anyway; you can use two different DDR ram, possible with 2 differences frequency (e.g: DDR400 and DDR333 and system runs on 333Mhz)

as a general rule the ram sticks need to match ...but check in the mother board hand book ...sometimes you can get away with it ....
