When God decides to end it!

2006-11-06 20:15:02 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

Well, that can be answered from a few stand point.

Astrophysicist : The world will definitely end when the sun reaches it's end of age (it has running out of hydrogen to burn) and it will expand to become a giant red star that consume it's nearest planets (those are Mercury, Venus and.. EARTH!). Which will not happen until 4,5 billion years from now. So don't be worry ;-)

Meteorologyst: The world will likely to end (in the sense that all living creature in it destroyed) when there's a giant meteor with the size of or larger than Manhattan hit the earth. The heat and shock wave will immediately kill 25% of population, the dust will cloud the sky, blocking sunlight and freeze the earth. Darkness and cold will kill plants within one months and the rest of animal kingdom (human?) within the next three months. Dinosaurs has proven it. So, when this will happen again? ANYTIME! So this is what you should be worried about.

Lover: The world will subjectively end (for you at least) when you find your most dearest -- love of your life-- fiancee, sleep with your best friend in your very own house, just two weeks before your wedding. And when exactly it happened? It happened ALL THE TIME! So theoretically the world could ends several times in your life..

PS. Please don't take this seriously :-)

Hmmm... An answer to that question is something that NOBODY knows... Intrigued with your question, I would like you to think over it, if you would know when the world would end, would it give you a total advantage?? The question can be restated as "when will I die?"... Are you trying to imply that you would want to predict when the world would end so that you can prepare yourself and do all the things before the world would end? There's no sense to it... Mind you, if you die, you won't realize that you're already dead. You would not even know how you died or how you lived... After you die, everything in your brain will be lost and nothing will remain... So, there's no sense asking the question whether when the world would end.

The power to extinguish life on the planet has hung over our heads since that December 2nd day in 1942 when the first controlled nuclear fission under direction of scientist Enricco Fermi marked the beginning of nuclear haulocaust potential.

We stand at 7 minutes to midnight on the Doomsday Clock and are a hairs breath away from utter destruction. Consider the following:

Oct. 27, 1962 - a Soviet submarine officer named Vasili Alexandrovich Arkhipov reportedly refused to comply with the launch of a nuclear warhead while apparently under attack by a U.S. warship near Cuba. In order to initiate such an attack, Soviet naval procedures stated that the captain and two other officers must concur. The other officer on duty agreed to the launch, but Arkhipov conviced the captain to wait for instructions from Moscow before proceeding.

October 24, 1973, as the Yom Kippur War was winding down, a Soviet threat to intervene on Egypt's behalf caused the United States to go to DEFCON 3.

November 9 ,1979, when the US made emergency retaliation preparations after NORAD saw on-screen indications that a full-scale Soviet attack had been launched. Early warning radar systems confirmed no such launch had taken place. A computer system test had caused the display errors and caused the absolute panic at NORAD.

Sept 26, 1983 Colonel Stanislav Petrov had 2-3 minutes to respond to 5 incoming nuclear warheads from the US according to his early warning system alarms. Against protocols, he did not push the button and did not notify his superiors, who would have most probably launched a counter-attack. The "rocket launches" were later found to be sun rays bouncing off of high altitude clouds.

Nov 1983, the USSR mistook a test of NATO's nuclear-release procdures as a fake cover for a NATO attack and subsequently raised its nuclear alert level. It wasn't till afterward that the US realized how close it had come to nuclear war.

Jan. 25, 1995 - Russia almost launched a nuclear attack after a Norwegian missile launch for scientific research was detected from Spitsbergen and thought to be an attack on Russia, launched five minutes from Moscow. This was the first time in history that the Russian suitcase carrying the codes was activated.

An ICBM only takes 28 minutes to reach continental US targets, so the answer to your question is it could be 28 minutes or 877 years, who knows?

In the year 2029, Apophis will have a near miss while in 2036, the chance of impact will be 1 in 300. 1950DA (1.1km) piece of rock will hit 877 years from now. The ones not mapped are the scary ones.
