The earth is pretty resilient. Humans will cause great hardships on themselves, maybe even destroy themselves, before they change their ways. Whatever the outcome of human life, the earth will recover. We will colonize other planets if we survive ourselves.

No human can destroy the mother nature the earth. All that the humans could do is destroy all the living beings of the world and life would once again start afresh with all the life returning back maybe with some glaring changes.

I think the humans will destroy Earth and then they will need to travel and colonize another planet to survive. So come on everybody.... lets go and save our Earth i hope is not too late!!!!

i'm afraid the second, bad case scenario, is more probable today, and likely to happen sooner
this being said, if we focused all of the Earth's resources, we probably could, today, build a giant spaceship, possibly propelled by solar / stellar wings, and have it ready to leave with a few thousand people on board, within 50 years or so. So in a sense you could say that the technology is there. As for knowing where to send it, well we could take a chance and shoot for one of those systems where we have detected many planets and believe there could be smaller, rocky ones.
but for the time being we are not focusing Earth's resources on this. To think that 100bn was squandered on the war in Iraq - this would have been good seed money! ;-)

I think though that we will actually dicover ways to travel blah blah. My reasoning for this is Nations rely on eachother for survival ( imports, exports, trade, defense, ect.) but the largest nations are all working towards that same goal of colonizing on another planet. I am not saying we will actually colonize somewhere else before we kill ourselves, but we may discover the means. Who's to say though.

If I had to bet on it? I would say we will destroy our selves and it shouldn't take long the way were going.
