While there can not be any conclusive evidence to make any statement fact, there have been studies done based on various people interviewed by various medically and politically motivated census's.Among those census's, I have found the following link(below) to help you see where many people get the number 1 in 10.Also, the second link is to look at the Kinsey scale.

No. It's just a rough estimate. I suppose it would be hard to get accurate information by polling people (ooops, poor choice of words). Some people would consider answering questions about their sexuality an invasion of privacy. Personally, I'd answer freely but you'd be lucky to get a "b-a-a-a-h" out of my goat. It may be hard to estimate what portion of the population is "in the closet". There is still a stigma attached to homosexuality but that is rapidly diminishing. Each succeeding generation seems to get more tolerant.

Why would you demand proof of such an insignificant statistic, a statistic that measures a portion of people's private lives that you have no business knowing? The 10% touted by certain activist groups sounds high, just as the 1% touted by religious organizations sounds very low. It doesn't matter what percentage is what--all that matters for you is that you are happy and comfortable with what YOU are.

AHA! You've been watching Rosie too! I think we should just take her word for it....whether it is a scientific fact (some of these folks have proved it is) or not probably won't affect your life or happiness in any way. She just wanted people to know that it is more common than we all think; and I believe she hopes people will be more accepting. One day someone you know or love may be brave enough to admit this and on that day, this admission should not change how you feel about them.

Please you're on the wrong site for that...it's been proven over and over again...go to freud..and various other studies...ie kinsey et al...they've done all the work....and while in the 1970's and 80's I was part of the sexual revolution --I'm not sure if I had sex with 10% of the men or not...seems like it was true--but if you count the 'straight' ,married ones it was much higher...ask any gay man how many men he has had sex with who later revealed that they were in fact married...that alone might open your eyes.
......and what's with this "provide evidence"???--it's been a long time since I've written a university paper.

I can not. Have a look at the research of Kinsey, he did some statistical studies.
