Don't kill your snakes they're more afraid of you than you are of them. They
help keep your yard in ecologic balance. We had a lot of poisonous
rattlers and the township killed them had them for years and they didn't
bother us and vice versa. We have a mouse problem now, natural
predators are gone.

If they are not poisonous you would be wise to leave them. They will be afraid of you and will retreat at every chance. They eat a lot of mice and even rats if they show up. Bugs too! Be certain they are not poisonous. If you aren't certain, call animal control to look at them. I have several snakes that come and go from the woods behind my house. They sometimes hiss at me if I get too close and then as soon as they can they scoot for cover. I see them going down the gopher holes and under and old shed I have looking for mice.

We had a snake problem. This large snake (5 ft) was lying right outside our front door. Everyone says- don't kill snakes, so I used a shovel to take it far back in the woods. The next day it was back. I brought it back in the woods far away and it came back again and again. After 4 times I am sick of it , stepping out my front door and having a snake hiss at me pushed me over the edge. I took an axe and chopped it to bits. Problem solved.

One need to have guts to kill a snake.
Its required to hit the snake in his head may be with a strong stick or iron rod. A shovel or some thing similar can also be used.
I have killed at least 50 snakes by this way.

a hose from car exhaust to their tunnel entrance should deliver enough carbon monoxide to put them to sleep for ever....works on burrowing rats too.
