In my opinion, yes. I think your baby is very clever to be walking at 9 months.

I dont think it 'means' something when a child starts to walk early. It has nothing to do with intelligence level, with your child's natural level of ambition, or anything else that some parents try to associate with meeting milestones such as walking a bit earlier than average. Some think early walking might cause a child to become bowlegged, but I've read articles that say the contrary.
Babies will do things on their own timetable, and we should just be excited for them when they reach yet another milestone and take a few pictures so they can see how cute they were as a baby when they are older. Seems like some parents put way too much emphasis on such things like when their child first walked.... it really doesnt matter. My fraternal twin brother started walking at 9mths, myself at 13mths, and we are equally athletic. Academically I've gone much farther than him. Walking a few mths earlier than me didnt get him anywhere but into more trouble a bit sooner, lol.

Normally achild walks by one year old. If he walks earlier, the better. The development milestone of a baby is said to be cephalocaudal, meaning it starts with the head & the last to develop is the extremities or the legs.
The baby usually starts first to regards at 1st month, smiles at 2nd month , turns head at 3rd month. He usually sits by 6 months, crawls later & lastly walk by 1 year old. A child crawls first then walks. That is usually the normal pattern of development.

I work in a nursery at a preschool and I have learned that the age range that children should learn to walk in is anywhere from 9 to 15 months. after 15 months there might be something developmentally wrong. However, if your child does walk earlier, like at 9 months, it does not make them any smarter than another child that is the same age but doesn't walk. People develop certain ways at different times. For example, just because one person goes through puberty at 12 doesn't make them smarter than some one who doesn't go through puberty until 16.

My wife & I think it's best for the baby to crawl and eventually they will pull themselves up to stand on their own. Some children will do this faster than others, but that doesn't mean they are more advanced... babies (like adults) develop differently. We have an 11 month old we never bought a walker for, because we feel it's best that HE let US know when his legs are ready to support his own weight. Walkers & holding up the baby onto his legs might not be so great for his developing bones & legs. The child will pull himself/herself upright when he or she is ready. They'll be walking soon enough, enjoy them being a baby! I remember the days when he'd stay where I put him, lol!!

Some studies believe that their bones aren't strong enough, and walking too early can cause children to have bow legs. However if they are ready to walk, I don't know how you'd stop them.
One of mine walked at 10 months, the other 8 months. And they're fine strong healthy kids. Let your baby develop when their ready.

Babies need a good balance of physical development and brain/intellectual development.
It is usually said that parents shouldn't "push" babies to walk too early because they should be allowed to develop their large muscles on their own.
As long as the early walking is not a sign that parents have overemphasized physical development and underemphasized intellectual/emotional development; and as long the early physical maturity is not a sign that the baby has not felt secure and as a result could have been "launched" into premature physical development by hormones associated with stress, its probably fine that the baby walks early. It just means his large muscle development occurred earlier.
So as long as the baby walks on his own without having parents push him to learn to walk, its fine. Lots of babies walk early.

My son walked at 9 months, he pulled up on the furniture at 8 months then took off a month later. I would say it's not so good since they get into things quicker lol.

Better how and for whom? In terms of better for baby my opinion is they will get up and walk when they are physically capable of doing so - be that 8 or 18 months.

I think that a baby will walk when he/she is ready. Barring an REALLY substantial delay that would indicate a physical or mental problem, I don't really think the timing matters a lot at all.
