I plugged my new Eyetoy USB camera into the computer but I don't know how to tell my computer that I have it. I remember a little box came up in the bottom right hand corner when I first plugged it in saying, click here to install hardware, but I exited it and it hasn't come up since.

Go to Control panel > Add new hardware and try detecting the new hardware. Access the driver from the CD or other media (incase if its autodetect not needed) and install the hardware.

If it's an XP, usually it will automatically recognize new hardware. Have you tried unplugging from the USB port and plugging it back up? Wait a minute or so before plugging it back up. That usually works for me.

The most thing is the driver. Driver is the only way to tell the your high level application that I have some hardware, which can capture video, and you are supposed to show me it on screen. Drivers are normaly freely available on net. Just search for the drivers on net. Once you installed the drivers, any vidoe capturing software like virtualdub, will start capturing from it.

unplug and restart computer. Do you have a software disk to go with your webcam. It should prompt you for the drivers, etc.
