I just bought one of my really good friends a guitar for his birthday...but I dont just want to hand it to him and say here, happy birthday. So I was wondering if anyone knew of a more cute or suprising or fun way to give it to him.

Take him to dinner, give the guitar to someone well in advance (it would work if you ask him to meet you there), preferably a waiter/ess that's going to serve you and while eating (giving instructions that the person should bring it out while ordering/while eating/or just after the meal. It will be a double surprise when you give him the guitar. Of course when you take him out you tell him you're taking him out cause it's his birthday. He'll looooooovvvvvvvvvvveeee you forever for that.

First off, that's really nice of you. I would give it to him by sneaking it into his room while he's not looking and just leaning it against the wall (unwrapped) with a birthday card stuck under the strings or something so it just looks like part of the room. This will give a good shock value. Another way is, you could invite him over and be like "Hey check it out, I got this new guitar, what do you think of it? And then when he says its cool be like "Good, cause its not mine, its yours"

Wow, the girl below me has better ideas...

give him a small box wrapped in gifr wrapping and put a single guitar string in it. when he looks confused, say it's in case the one that's stung breakes and hand it to him.
or...
if he already knows how to play ask him to teach you "will you teach me how to play sweet home alabama on your new guitar?" then again confusion and bam! hit him in the head with it... not really :) jokeing there.. just give it to him
or... i'm really trying to think of good ways....ummm
if he doesn't know how to play, get him a "learn to play" book and give it to him. when he opens it, say.. damn.. i thought you had a guitar.. then say. well, i guess i'll have to give you this one that i got you :)
ok, i'm spent on ideas, hope this helps :)
