"Kurtosis describes the concentration of data around the mean."

kurtosis = 4th moment about the mean divided by the square of the 2nd moment about the mean (variance)

kurtosis = (1/N)∑((Xi - M)/σ)^4, i=1 to N

Kurtosis shows how flat or peaked a distribution is. It is a measure of the distribution shape. A normal distribution has a coefficient of kurtosis of 3. I am afraid you will need to look in a book on advanced statistics to see how to calculate it. It is impossible for me to type the symbols. This doesn't give you a full answer but I hope it gets you started.
