Hmmm, I think you should go into ballet!

My Mum did a councelling course after years of being a Physio. She loved it. The only thing that did her head is was that after years of working in the private sector she found the public sector so very inefficient. But she found the job both distressing but rewarding most of the time.

Just try to avoid councelling everyone all of the time - learn to switch it off.

Good luck.

It depends on what kind of course you are taking, for how long and what qualifications you get as a result. Will you specialise in a specific aspect?
Some large organisations like to have a counsellor on their staff, in the personnel department.
Some schools have a visiting counsellor employed by the local education authority. Universities usually have a resident one. Some hospitals too.
You could be attached to one or several medical surgeries.
There is always a need for counsellors at Citizen Advice Bureaus but I believe they are non-renumerated.
The organisation with which you take your course is best situated to give you some leads as to what you can do after you have obtained your diploma.
Good luck in your studies.

well done for choosing such a worthy course. I know a lot of people who have gone on to work in treatment centres for alcohol and drug addiction. There are also half-way houses for people who have come out of treatment but still need help. They pay can be quite good in these jobs too.
