My old employer is a national company that does human resource tasks. I worked there for a few years and quit under some stressful circumstances. I am curious to see if there are any notes about me or things in my personel file (whatever that is). I don't even know where the company stores this type of information or if there is more than one place. The only way I can think of to find this out is if I had a contact on the inside that regularly hired people (i dont have a contact). Any ideas on how I can get a hold of my 'file' so to speak

I know that I had access to my personnel file whenever I wanted while I was still working for my former company. I hadn't thought of it before but I may still have access to my file, I've just never cared so I never asked. Why don't you ask your former company's personnel department if you can see your file and what you need to have in order to have access to it again. If there are legal papers you need then you may need to see a lawyer to have them drawn up but, what the heck, it doesn't hurt to ask.
