I have worn turquoises all my life. They do not require forceful cleaning and certainly not with a toothbrush. Anything that contains an element of fat or oil (and that includes soap and washing up liquid!) will make them go yellow in due course. The odd quick dip in water will not harm them. I have very occasionally wiped mine with a little methylated spirit and a soft cloth. It evaporates quickly and does not damage the surface.

I wouldnt have thought it would need much cleaning. If it is really precious to you then maybe ask a specialist, but if it was mine a clean damp cloth would probably do.
