Rayyan is the name of one of the gates of paradise through which the "saaim" or the one who fasts, will pass and get into paradise.As the word 'baab' implies gate, the name of this gate is "baab ul-Rayyan".The word is usually used in sermons in Ramadan to recall the reward of fasting.

It should be mean the head of a village, where his writ alone runs. Krishnadeva Raya is the name of the king. There Raya means the head. In Telugu, they are known as rayudu and in Tamil, its equivalent is rayyan.
