My husband had cancer, lost his job and was hospitalized 200 miles away from home to have surgery for the cancer at a major University hospital. I wanted to be with him while he was there but did not have the money to stay in a hotel for that long. I slept in my car in the parking garage for about 3 weeks. the nurses at the hospital let me shower late at night in the patients shower area. At the time I had a 1987 Camaro- small car! Not to mention that cars are going around parking all night and it was pretty cold. When the wife of my husbands new roomate found out that I had been sleeping in my car, she offered me her hotel room, showers, meals, etc. that night in the hotel was one of the best sleeping nights that I ever had. This woman did not know me at all. We had only talked for a few minutes but she offered all of this to me. Sadly her husband passed away. My husband beat the odds. We made friends with plenty of nurses at the hospital and left our number in case someone is there with a similar situation. When they call and we are able, we send the money to pay for a night in a hotel for them. That woman truely made a huge impact on my life.

I once had a flat tire at the side of the highway and the bolt just wouldn't come off, it was a different size then all the other ones and was completely stuck. I was moving to Northern CA from WA, I was poor and in a small, barely running car, it had already broken down once with engine trouble and here I was less then 50 miles from my destination, my mind struggled to cope. I tugged on it until I couldn't breath, then collapsed at the side of the road, my head tumbling down around me. A few minutes past, then someone in a older truck stopped, came over tome and asked to help, I told them the situation, he tried and then agreed it was stuck, so he got back into his truck and said he would go and get a tool and be back... I was sure I would never see him again but about 40 minutes later he was back with a wrench and vise grips and sure enough we got the bolt off. He said he had borrowed the tools from a local store some 12 miles away and had to return them and like that he was off.
He was my angel, and I'll never forget him.

Well a long time ago when my son was a todler my car broke down -busted water pump in the middle of summer 85 or hotter on i695 in Maryland. My mom and son were in the car with me and a passer by drove me to a pay phone and brought me back to my car for free It was a risk and a blessing as a lady I took a chance on taking a ride from a man.

Someone took a chance on me when I really needed a break. I didn't know him, and there was no reason for him to do anything for me. God knows we hear of and know tons of stories of people ripping you off and/or lying. What made me so different? It was just kindness and compassion, recognizing someone who needed a little help. He trusted me and gave me a chance and I am so grateful that he did. I am doing really great now because of his compassion and generosity to a stranger. I thank him by passing it on everytime I get an opportunity. You never know when you will be doing something life changing for someone, just out of the kindness of your heart.

A stranger in a semi pulled over on the side of the road as my car was overheating and poured the rest of his icewater in my radiator in 130 degree heat, waited with me until my car cooled down, and then gave me $20 for gas to top off my car so I wouldn't get stranded in the desert again.

I recently received a beautiful painting of me at work from a person in USA. I only met him through someone who knew him on a forum. All because he liked what I wrote.
Another stranger, a Seller on ebay found something around their house, it reminded them of me when I bought something from them a long long time ago. They sent it to me in the mail and it was a beautiful fairy stationary card set.
The weirdest thing was....I received both these gifts from strangers in the post on the same day. Never before happened and of course not since.
Blessings be yours in light and peace

I cant really put a finger on something major, but i have had the odd door opened for me, seat offered to me on public transport and help when i have dropped items.
I do though always try to offer help if i see someone in need. I would feel awful if I didnt help.

I have had many people do this for me and I have helped many people. The first person was someone who towed me out of a snowbank and when I offered to pay, he just said "help someone else when they are in need" A "Pay it forward" moment. And I have done just that.
You just have to watch out for the people who prey upon emotions, i.e. people at gas stations who claim they are stranded and need money for gas. I offer to fill their tank and have had only one person actually take me up on it. Or if a begger on the street asks for money for food, I walk them to a local eatery to buy them lunch and not one person has taken me up on it. It doesn't hurt to try.

Ahhh, this is easy for me. This stranger once spoke to me. We had conversation and then eventually became really good friends. I finally married this stranger who is not my best friend. so my answer to your question would be... The kindest thing a stranger has done for me is become my friend.
