Yes, he is right. The acceptance of gangsta rap has led to the degeneration of many youths today. That along with parents who haven't a clue on how to parent and who care more about their personal lives than raising a decent children have led to the downward spiral of blacks today.

Mr. Cosby was right to a certain extend. Not all black people act that way. Most of us are hard working both young and old. You would actually be suprise by how many black people have college degrees but is put down when they go on an interview.

I do not blame hip hop music on nothing. That is looking for a way out and pointing fingers at someone to take the blame for mistakes some people make themselves. Instead of pointing finger I think that everyone should hold one head, bring forth ideas and see how we can find a solution to the problem.

The media itself plays a big role in the negativity in things that are happening today. If a black person does something good we never hear or read about it but let it be something bad. They will cry that person down.

One thing though we all have to remember.....It takes a village to raise a child.

Some of what Bill Cosby said was true. There are parents out there who will buy expensive sneakers and video games for their children instead of books, but you have to look at what he said more closely. Not all of black society is like that, but I think he was speaking to all blacks in general because he wanted to wake people up. The show he had portrayed blacks as having more concern for education. In Atlanta he gave a speech about how the fathers need to be there for their children. He is right. If you ask any convict in the prison system about their fathers, chances are it won't be good. As for hip hop, I don't think hip hop is to blame( I am not into the hip hop culture though). It is specifically the messages that are to blame. If you had Christian hip hop on television all the time and children saw it daily it would affect them in a proactive way.

i think there are two sides to black society. there's the 'hip hop' class, that yes, honestly i find repulsive. obsessed with 'bling' and talking in a manner completely opposite to normal american grammer and speech. and it's somehow 'cool'.
the other side i have absolutly no problem with. the people who carry themselves normal. they don't feel the need to put spinners on an escalade that has an xbox 360 and a plasma wired in the back, or platinum teeth. the black society that uses normal american grammer and speech, and, well, behaves normally.
dont misunderstand me. i am completely against racism, it doesn't matter to me if the 'hip hop' language slaughtering dork wearing his pants around his ankles and sporting a diamond 'grill' is white black or any race. what bothers me is that they behave in such a manner. the color has nothing to do with it.

he wasn't right in a whole but he had a point. he can not blame it on hip hop and should not say that black people in general are uneducated and loud in public. we have our faults just like any other race. however, i must say that we have regressed since Dr. King, Malcolm X and the black panthers. we no longer fight for our future and our children. everyone that is pointing fingers and blaming everyone else should turn that finger around because everybody is capable of helping to make positive life changes. we need to stop judging people on behalf of their faults and instead, lend them your hand and help them. no one is perfect enough to cast the stone of judgment. all the bill cosbys' of the world need to humble themselves and step down off of the high and mighty chair for just a minute, then they can see, from a different angle, what they were frowning down on.

Complete slap in the face for the blacks who are actually trying to do something. The best part is he chose to give this speech at a HBCU?!! Are you serious?! IF you were so concerned about those problems why didn't he give to the crowd that affects them? Or is he afraid of dipping his jello pudding into the freezer? (Don't ask I just thought the phrase was funny) Changes can be made but Good Lord if you alienate the group, what the hell makes you think they'll listen to you now? Further, have you seen our MTV generation in general? Nobody wants to say it, but we're all going to hell in a handbasket, regardless of what the jello-loving pill slipping molester thinks.

Bill Cosby was correct in his statements, but don't think that he wants to fix race problems any more than racists on here. He recently endorsed spending millions of taxpayer dollars on a slavery museum.

Funny enough, Cincinnati already spent millions of taxpayer dollars on an Underground Railroad Freedom Center and it can't even break even to stay open without massive government funding.

no i thought he was correct. because it is true. i have a little brother whom is 17 and he thinks that its okay to go to school and ditch half of his classes and hang out with friends, while wearing his pants down to his ankles. he loves his rap muic his sees jay-z as a hero and 50 as a snitch ***** that deserves to die. he can reciet every lyric to any rap song, but can't name the 50 states and their capitols. my niece can name them and she is 5. yes he was correct hip-hop is starting to damage our youth because thet keep imitating what they see on t.v. and videos. whatever happened to the role modle rappers like run-dmc, frsh prince, biz markie, chub rock, u know those people, eirc b and rakim. stuf fthat actually ment something.

I have no idea what Mr. Cosby said but no one could make any generalization about any one culture/society.
