I currently live in California Born & Raised. Thinking about maybe moving out towards Seattle. I wanted to know how is it out there as for as the people, jobs etc. I've been before, but I really didn't get to see much. Will this be a great state to move from California. Please let me know your opinions. Thanks

Seattle is extremely different than Los Angeles, so if you are looking for a new lifestyle, than Seattle might be your answer. :)

The weather is colder and rainier than LA, but the scenery here is beautiful. The job market is pretty good here, house/rental prices are high, but probably still lower than where you live. People here are pretty casual, laid back and chill, but are also very intelligent, healthy, and what some in LA might call "granola".

I'd recommend taking a week long trip up here before packing your stuff...get a feel for the city, it's neighborhoods, the people, etc.

Good luck!

I live on the Olympic Peninsula, which is about 70 miles West of Seattle. I love this area! We have the best of everything geographically! Mountains on the South and ocean on the North. There is so much natural beauty and not much polution. The small town I am in has some problems with unemployment at the moment because of mill shut downs. It depends on what kind of position you are seeking for a job. There are lots of jobs as corrections officers available in this area, as there are several corrections facilities that are out of town but close enough to commute to. The Seattle area has lots of other opportunities, I'm sure. I enjoy the diversity of this area. There are lots of artists and subcultures here on the coast. We have lots of people moving here from California.. most people that live in a town 15 miles from me are CA transplants. Good luck with your decision! I hope this helps.

Be careful. A lot of people come up to Seattle expecting to love it because of all the wonderful things they hear (which is true!), but if you're from somewhere that has consistent sunshine, get ready for a major change. Not just lifestyle, but mood. Seasonal Affective Disorder runs rampant in the NW--the rain isn't a big deal, it's the constant overcast that really affects people. It's not so bad if you're used to it, but it can be hard for some. Just a warning...but it is a really beautiful and fun city! I lived there for almost 20 years--born and raised!
