You have the possiblity of having a Liger or Tigon depending on which is the male and which is the female.
A Tigon is the hybrid of a male tiger and a lioness. The tigon is not currently as common as the converse hybrid, the liger, however in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, tigons were more common than ligers.
You'll find the link I provided of particular interest.

The offspring of a tiger and a lion mating are called a tigon or a liger (depending on which is male and which is female).
See the wiki pages.
The reason they can mate is that they are chromosomally similar enough.

Yes, tigers and lions can create an offspring. However, male ligons (male tiger x lioness) are sterile, while females can be fertile.
It is possible for lions and tigers to mate because they are both members of the same genus (Felis) and there are enough similarities in their DNA to produce offspring.

They are genetically similar enough to bear offspring.
The "mate" of the offspring??? We'll have to see who he/she fancies.
Or did you mean the name? If the latter, perhaps "liger".
