saad, hi!

i found this neat description for you... it's put in simple layman terms...

Q. What's the difference between weight and mass?

A. As long as you stay on Earth, the difference is more philosophical than practical.

Q. Uh...what do you mean by that?

A. Well, mass is a measurement of how much matter is in an object; weight is a measurement of how hard gravity is pulling on that object. Your mass is the same wherever you are--on Earth, on the moon, floating in space--because the amount of stuff you're made of doesn't change. But your weight depends on how much gravity is acting on you at the moment; you'd weigh less on the moon than on Earth, and in interstellar space you'd weigh almost nothing at all.

Q. But if you stay on Earth, gravity is always the same, so it really doesn't matter whether you talk about weight or mass.

A. That's right...but scientists still like to be careful about distinguishing between the two. If you talk about the mass of an atom--as I will do from now on--you're always talking about the same thing; if you talk about its weight, what you mean depends on where the atom is.

Mass is the amount of matter present in a body and is an intrinsic property of the body. Mass of an object remains the same always at any place.

Weight on the other hand is the force which a given mass feels due to the gravity at its place. Weight is measured in units of Force like Newton (which is the SI unit of Force).

Force = mass x acceleration (From Newton's second Law)

Thus, weight = mass x acceleration due to gravity

Mass is the quantity of matter. It is the same throughout the universe and it related to matter. Its measure is inertia and also influences the magnitude of weight upon certain circumstances.

Weight is a force. A force between to objects and foe our case between any object and the earth. It is never constant since it depends on the distance between the bodies (and their mass of course). The weight remains the same upon certain distance only for two objects. While both of them retain their mass regardless the distance from any object.
Mass is a fundamental definition that deals with matter itself while weigh as a force is the outcome of the interaction between two masses. Mass is measured in Kgr and weight (should at least) is measured in Nt.

For g=10 a man of mass of 60Kgr weights 600Nts

The net weight can be zero upon forces equilibrium.

mass is the unit of measuring an object by its density with the gravitational pull but weight is the mass of the object along with the force exerted.

mass+gravitational force = weight

where mass of a object can be weighed out where there is no gravity.

See Mass is the total conent of matter in the body. But In weight the gravitational force comes in view.

Mass X g (Acceleration due to gravity)=Weight.

Mass word comes repeatedly while molecular physics is studied. Weight comes frequently in day-to-day life.

Mass is absolute, weight is subject to gravitional pull of the planet (or any other body) that you are on.

For example, your mass on the earth and the moon is the same. But your weight on the moon will be much lesser that on earth (due to lesser gravity on the moon)

Quantity of mass possessed by the body is called the mass of the body,

A force with which a body is attracted towards the centre of the earth is called weight.

Mass of the body remains constant at all places and it cannot become 0

weight of a body changes from place to place and it can become 0 at the centre of the earth

Weight is a force. F = m*a ; where acceleration is gravity.

Mass is a property of a physical object that quantifies the amount of matter and energy it is equivalent to. (from Wikipedia)

Mass is NOT how dense a material is. Density is mass per volume; therefore, mass is one of the components of density.

weight is nothing but a maen of measuring the gravitational foce acting on the bpdy whereas the term mass refers to the physical quantity which refers to the total content of the body. mass remains universali.e it doesnot change wherever u go but weight depends upon the gravitational accelaration at the place.
