I was driving down the road when the engine
lite comes on, I was about 10 miles from home,
I made it home without any difference in the
engine performance. When I checked under the
hood no unusual odor and the exaust odor was
the same. I can crank the car but each time the
engine lite comes on. Could it be the catalyic
converter and because living here in Panama
emission control is low priority can I remove it
without causing engine damage or low perfor-
mance. Volve mechanix are next to nil here and
if the converter is removed will it cause engine
to perform less or damage it., and in the mean
time can I still drive without damaging the engine
as all other performances are the same. Pls
advise. TKS.

try this one you can disconnect the battery or a couple of minutes this can reset some of the check engine light on codes some of the new cars just leaving the gas cap loose will trigger the light some times they go off by them selves its not the converter when converters go bad they generally rattle i see that most people didn't comprehend that your in PANAMA

check all fluids, but that wont make a difference. there is a chance it is a computer glitch, but you should bring it to a mechanic and have them hook it up to a computer. they will tell you whats wrong and what to do.

better to pay to prevent damage than pay more down the road when it happens

something has triggered a sensor response that will need to be
decoded. you will need to take your vehicle to a dealer or mechanic who can plug your car in and decifer what the engine is saying.
may be a new filter, or sensor, or - ? but it will always be $$$
hopefully just $
