I'm not sure what grade level we're going for here, because if it's for middle school, you don't want to get too complicated.
Essentially though:
Comparision: China started implementing a lot of reforms in the late 1970s to open their communist style of government (where the government owns all the industry) to having more market style. And this has helped their industry boom to now. United States is a market based economy.
Contrast: US's GDP is about 10 times that of China's, and the per capita in US is also about 10 times as high. Most of US economy is the service sector (people providing services that they charge money for) whereas most of China's economy is industry (making stuff).
China's economy is growing at about 10% a year, and the US is growing at about 3% a year.
Also, a big difference in US economy/society and China is that in the US, there are more safeguards for Intellectual Property...meaning if someone creates something, we give them patents so they can say it is their idea and make money on it. In China intellectual property isn't really as valuable, so that stifles a lot of their creativity or desire to create new things.
Also a big difference is the US currency, the dollar, is traded on the open market. Meaning other people can buy or sell the dollar, so the value of it can change depending on how powerful people think our economy is. On the other hand, China's government decides how much the Chinese currency, the yuan, should be worth.

Hazzardous is right! i might upload approximately presidential elections: interior the U. S. you have 2 events: Democrats & Republicans. Then perchance there's a 0.33 candidate (self sustaining) who in no way gets to win. In Peru there is often 10+ applicants on each and each election. classic Political events have very almost disappeared, basically last APRA (midsection and corrupt). interior the final 6 elections those have been the outcomes (and party): 1985 Alan Garcia (APRA) 1990 Alberto Fujimori (newly formed - Cambio ninety) 1995 Alberto Fujimori have been given reelected 2000 Alberto Fujimori cheated a reelection have been given caught in a corruption scam, then flew to Japan 2000-2001 non everlasting government via Valentin Paniagua 2001 Alejandro Toledo (newly formed - Peru Posible) 2006 Alan Garcia (APRA) 2011 Ollanta Humala (newly formed - Gana Peru) he particularly lost the presidency in 2006 together with his newly formed - UNION POR el PERU or UPP In conclution. Presidency in Peru is an argument of possibility and a danger!

Sorry, I am too tired tonight to fully go into this but let me try to lead you in a good direction..
Btw, this is a hard essay because it is not just two economies.. it is two economies that have core differences with one being a capilatist economy and the other being communist based.
Some argue China is not fully communist anymore but at that same time, many argue now that we are not fully capitalist with the new global economy dictating our market that is supposed to be a NATIONAL based free market.
The core differences of those two run into deep social mentality differences with an American being raised as his/her value being based on his/her personal wealth. A communist is raises to his/her value being based on support or participation in advancement of community. This may sound social but it VERY MUCH influences competitive markets.

China is now a booming economy because of cheap labor resulting to low cost of products. United States is still good in economy because of its superpower stature wherein many nations wanted to deal with it for arms and technology.

It's an over populated communist country and a somewhat overpopulated democratic republic country. Show how letting our people people control their own money differs from the government controlling most of their money. Show how the free market system has kicked the communist systems ***. things like that.
