my friend was driving from az. and was caught with 70 lbs. of pot in his car.(yes he's an idiot) i heard it is only a misdemeanor if u r caught with under 200 lbs. is this true?

He faces both Kansas felony charges and Federal charges. Chances are he will be indicted on a charge of transportation of marijuana accross state lines, because the federal charges carry a much stiffer sentence, and the federal system doesn't use parole. However, its a felony at either level.

Nope it is not true. Even if it was only one ounce in that car it is a Federal offense to transport narcotics across state lines. But in most states anything over half an ounce is possesion with the intent to distribute.

What a bunch of crap about it's being also a federal charge.
These people just don't know what they're talking about.
I do.
It's a misdemeanor, unless you're some belligerent gang-banger that insults the police at the outset.
