If Bush is any indication, they know they will not be hunted. Just ask Osama and his boys if they fear Bush will catch them. Bush's statement was loud and clear. We will hunt whoever did this 9/11, find them, and prosecute them. As you can see, Osama and his men are alive and well in a country we occupy, and have prospered quite nicely for many years. With the best hi-tech military in history, we still don't seem to be able to find these guys? You might just have to ask why not?

This makes for good rhetoric, but everybody, including the terrorists, knows this isn't true. The identities of most terrorists are not known, and they only get caught when they persist in their actions. 99% of the world's terrorists could go back to living a normal life tomorrow and never get caught because governments don't know who they are. What will end up happening in iraq is that eventually the insurgents, except for perhaps the very top leaders, will be given amnesty. A peace agreement will someday be reached and most of them will not be caught or killed. Thats how every conflict ends up, especially unconventional conflicts like this where the identites of the enemies are often unknown. And it happens because governments are, at the end of the day, pragmatic, and its always easier to just allow hostilities to end instead of going through the effort and prolonged hostilities that bringing every last enemy to justice would require. Maybe what you say is true for the top leaders, maybe, but for most terrorists it is not, and everybody knows it.

They are fanatics dying to die with 'honour'. Such people are essentially immuned to the fear commonly felt by normal humans.
