Hi, I am from UK too originally, live now in Switzerland. My wife isn't (Philippina) and we wanted to go to UK to live and work together. Of course this is no problem for me, but my wife, because she is from the Philippines has to have an immigration visa. To get this, apart from producing a work contract, you also have to have proof of sufficient funds (copy of bank statement), which would suffice for you both being financially independant for the first six months!

If you want to remain in UK, as I understand your question, then you do not need a Shengen Visa, unless you wish to travel around continental Europe. See Infolink below:

Hope this helps..good luck!

Both of the above are not correct. Unless my understanding of your situation is not correct.
I understand that you are British and your wife carries a foreign passport with an indefinite stay visa. You do not say which passport she carries but I assume it is from a country that requires a shengen visa, in which case she does still require one from the country that you will enter first. If you are going via the tunnel or ferry to France your visa will need to be acquired through the France consulate in Kensington London.
Try this website:http://www.ambafrance-uk.org/
Hit on visiting France, then visa info, then halfway down the page "What is a shengen visa"
Read properly as you will need stuff eg. passport size photo's etc.
The good news is that being married to you she can make an appointment and avoid the queue ( the queue takes all day) or she can do it by post if you have the time.
They normally give a visa for90 days but after a couple of times they do 6 months. Have a good time in France it is a lovely country with really nice people.

It does depend on where she's from. If she does require visas throughout the Schengen region, she will only need a schengen visa if she intends visiting at least two schengen countries. If she does not plan to visit at least two schengen countries, she does not need a schengen visa - she merely needs to a visa for the country being visited.
