1. one day the devil and God were having an argument. God decided that they would settle the argument over a game of cricket.

God said to the devil "Heaven will surely win this match as we have all the great players, Don Bradman..." and he proceeded to name a few of the greatest players to have played the game.

The devil smirked and said "No, i think Hell will win - we have all the umpires"

2.Once upon a time there was an indian (he was a cricket fan) India was playing a match at eden gardens, but on the same day his wife was giving birth, he had no wishes of missing the match so he decided to watch the match and visit his wife later on.

The match began, two quick wickets fell.the fan was dissappointed and he remembered his wife, he picked up the phone and quickly dialed number.

He wanted to call the hospital but accidently called up the stadium, he asked the man on the other end thinking him to be the doctor 'so what's the result?'

The man replied 'It's still in process, two are out nine are left and the last one was a duck!'

Try searching on the below stories:
Glen McGrath & Eddo Brandes 'biscuit' story,
Shane Warne & Daryl Cullinan 'years eating' story, &
Ramneresh Sarwan & Glen McGrath 'ask your wife' story.

All of these are good stories but contain strong language, hence I can not answer them directly, but the searches worked for me.

Also look at a copy of Wisden or the Sportspages Almanac (1990, 91 & 92) by Matthew Engel & Ian Morrison. They are provide lots more.

Try the one about Brian Close getting hit on the forehead fielding at silly mid off and the ball bouncing to first slip, when asked by a concerned colleague what would have happened if it had hit him an inch further back he said "gully would have had it"

How about ideas such as splitting up India or Australia (in certain global, regional or continental tournaments) into constituent states that play against each other and against countries on a country level.

Or the idea of setting up a ladder structure to ensure close, even, matches in cricket: for example, in round one, teams ranked 1vs2, 3vs4, 5vs6,... then in the 2nd round of play:
L(1v2) vs W (3v4); L(3v4) vs W (5v6); L(5v6) vs W (7v8),....
and in the 3rd round: Wof match one versus W(1v2); winner of match two ve loser of match one;.....

These are things you may want to think about or comment on
(I hope).
