Is the "maintenance fee" child support or alimony. In the case of child support it can be reduced if the ex is making more money than she was at the time they were divorced, or your husband is making significantly less. Child support is usually based on amount and ratio of the couple's income at the time of divorce.

For example, if the state says that based on the couple's household income $1000 a month would go to supporting a child and the husband makes 70% of the household income, than he will have to pay $700. If the ex started making 50% of the husband's income than he could go back to court and have the divorce decree amended to reduce his child support to $500 a month. The court will ususally only look at this though if her income has substantially increased.

If the "maintenance" is alimony than you just have to wait until she co-inhabits or marries someone else.

Hi

Maintenance fee usually is paid to ex-wife from the conception that men support women (ie women can't support themselves). Debating the validity of this in the current period is pointless.

But so far as I understand, the former husband can review his maintenance allowance to his ex-wife if she re-marries. Else, try declaring bankruptcy. Those are the only 2 methods I can think of.

His kids are his family. Sure, he has discarded the kids' mothers, but that does not let him off the hook. He should stop creating new families every time he turns around.
