If you had a meaningful relationship,it is hard to sometimes give up the basic friendship of that relationship. I truely believe that true love never dies. That doesnt mean there has to be sex or romance. You must have meant a great deal to her otherwise she wouldnt just want to "discard" what you had. True, being friends doesnt work in all relationships where there was romantic love involved, but it does work in some cases. Maybe yours is one. People shouldnt just be thrown out of our lives.

she probably wants to rekindle the relationship and it seems to me that the feelings for her are still strong, yet you remember the reason why you and her broke up in the first place and you don't want to get hurt

If she feels as though you've let her go,,, or you've moved on,,, it will hurt her ego. She's keeping you around knowing how you feel. She may still have feelings but it doesn't seem like you want to wait around to find out or wait till she makes a decision. Move on. =(

Perhaps she just wants you in her life, not as a lover but as a friend. Its easier to lose a lover and gain a friend.
