does anyone know a polite way to ask for a raise?

i bust my *** at my job, work twice as hard as anyone else, and i know FOR A FACT, that everyone there (including ppl we JUST hired) are making almost 2 x the amount i'm making. I want to ask for a raise, but everytime i think about it, i get really upset and frustrated. I want to ask firmly, but i don't want to lose my job...

Prepare a short memo for your supervisor. Point out your strengths for the company, and what your personal goals
are to move up (?). Ask to be re-evaulated for your salary.
(ps know your company's policy - I worked one place and we
could be fired for discussing salary with other employees)
Be positive - but you may have to move to get that bigger salary
even doing the same thing for somebody else. And if you do resign, when you have landed the new job, don't be surprised if the old boss asks what it would take to keep you. Good Luck!

well try this... it works ...boss you missed my last pay adjustment.. an I sure could use it now please...I had a worker tell me this just the other day an We looked she had not had a raise in two years so why I don't know..so she go a good pre Christmas bonus plus a nice raise... I even told all emp if you do not get a raise in 14 mo see me be for you walk off. hope this helps in some way

write your boss a letter asking for a raise, explain to him why and that you are thinking of going to work elsewhere if he doesnt show some appreciation for your hard work.
all that he can do is say no. plus he will appreciate you for sticking up for yourself and you thinking that your good enough for a raise
