I say Michael Jordan. Some say Dr. J, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird. I do know one thing. Kobe Bryant is at a higher level than everyone in his generation. But I think that the talent has declined over the years. Watching the NBA now is like watching street ball. Now you see scores like 75 - 68 or 81 - 76. In the past you used to see scores like 122 - 118 or 130 - 125. It would be impossible that the best player to ever play the game would be from this generation, cause they don't have it! Sure Kobe scored 81 points or whatever it was in one game. But with the way they play defense today, Michael Jordan would have scored 150 points!!!!

bill russell was a winner in grade school, high school, college and the nba....maybe its because he belongs to the era long time past but these people who think of others as the greatest never bother to look up russell's winning accomplishments.... and to those of you who chose chamberlain, you might want to check how russell dominated their encounters to wilt's frustration and you have the gall to choose wilt over russell...and remember michael jordan did not win his first title until he was six years in the league and bird, magic and kareem were fading or away from the battles....11 rings in 13 nba campaigns says it all and he even played in 12 finals....no player ever has ever achieved 12 finals in 13 seasons and to say no one will ever again is a safe bet....being great should never be about personal records, flashy plays, or scoring many points...it should be about winning and there is no bigger winner than the great Bill Russell

often times, we are saying that this participant or that participant is the ultimate ever as quickly as we are basically watching what's occurring now. constructive, Kobe is tearing up the league with what he can do with the ball. now could be Kobe's time. He waited for it and confirmed some style of impatient arrogance and frustration before arriving to the place he's as we talk. he's cleansing up his act. The Lakers are triumphing. Your hypothesis is that Kobe would surpass Jordan through fact the ultimate participant ever. it somewhat is conceivable. something can take place. specialists have reported before that a scoring champ can't win a call...Jordan proved them incorrect. That Wilt Chamberlain's checklist of having 7 scoring titles heavily isn't broken, incorrect lower back! you are able to study those 2 gamers on somebody point. permit's be purpose approximately this. One won't dominate the different completely. the two can score at will, can play protection, can rebound, can bypass, teach management...they have super will to win! Accomplishment-sensible, Jordan owns Kobe. Jordan has all the awards you are able to think of of, the two for my area or as a collection member. And till Kobe surpasses what Michael has finished, Jordan has the sting. This being reported, Kobe is the only participant you are able to study Jordan to. Kobe isn't the subsequent Jordan... Kobe is his very own guy... whilst all is declared and finished, some youngster baller will pop out and could be hyped through fact the subsequent Kobe Bryant... The ball will shop on rolling and rolling and rolling....

Let me just comment... Kobe's 81-point game was a little misleading. It was obviously impressive, but that statistic really isn't a measure of greatness. Points in basketball is one of the few stats in sports that you can manipulate. If you pass the ball to one guy the whole game, you can get him a lot of points and make it look like he had an unbelievable game, but really, that's not how you're supposed to play. I mean, you think Jordan couldn't ever have scored 81 in a game? MJ probably could've scored 150 in one of those games, if they just fed him the ball every single time. But again, that's not how you're supposed to play. So that stat can be a little misleading.

As far as the best player in league history... well, it's tough to compare players from different generations. You can't forget Wilt, who holds an incredible number of records in scoring and other categories, many of which will never be broken. But the greatest of all time, I'll say MJ as well. It's only once in a lifetime that you see a kind of player with his kind of talent. But what's most impressive is that Jordan always had to answer the critics, and he did so brilliantly every single time. When he first came into the league, people said he'd be alright but not great; he responded by instantly becoming one of the best scorers in the league. Then people said his scoring was meaningless, because he wasn't helping his team win; he responded by getting them to the Playoffs every year. Then people said he was all about stats and awards and that he didn't have what it took to win it all; he responded by leading his team to a championship win. Six times. That's greatness.

Michael Jordan. No question about it. I really miss seeing him play. Kobe is a good player, but Jordan was a great player and also an even greater team player.

man your trippin. the reason in the score difference is because the level and speed of the game have changed. Atheletes now are bigger and faster which makes scoring more difficult. What team would have scored 122 or whatever with people like Shaquille defending the hole or Allen Iverson on the steal? Mike is Mike and he will always be that Dude the dude who changed the game and you think he made it worse.........
