Well there are several reasons. One huge reason that should be obvious is media. Thats why tabloids make so much money showing pics of celebrities without make up. Another healthy reason is to play up their features. Some women don't know how to apply makeup correctly so they end up looking like clowns. Other women may just have self esteem issues, or scars. Mostly, we are women and we like makeup.

A lot of girls put all kinds of makeup on their faces because that is what their 'idols' and role models do. Actress, singers and models wear make up for a living (haha) and girls simply follow their example. It may make them feel glamorous, desirable, older, cool, pretty etc.
As they grow older they eventually learn that 'au natural' is the best way!

if a girl looks ok without it she will look hot with it and if she hot without it then with it she will look even hotter women just want to look their best and makeup helps and its not bad for the skin they have so many kinds not like 20 yrs ago

too much make-up will eventually damage da skin, but there are some make up that are made from natural ingredients that dont damage the skin that much.
some girls look better with some make up on, some look better without it.
there are also a lot of girls that wear TOO much make up, and makes dem look like drag queens lolz

Girls put a lot of make up on too look pretty! They want to look good and they feel better with a lot of make up on! A lot of make up is ok it will not hurt them or hurt there skin! I think girls look pretty when they are natural also! :)

usually, women are taught to put make up on by their mothers. so if mom wears a lot of makeup, daughter does too.
the most important answer is... no one told them it looks awful. where are these women's friends? stand up. be a real friend. tell that ho she wears too much makeup. she will thank you later when she's not spending thousands in plastic surgery trying to clean out all those gross, filled-in-like-nail-holes-in-the-wall-before-you-move-out, crater pores in her face.

advertising. they lull girls into thinking they need this and that to look good. yes, interestingly, the au naturale look is way better on nearly all girls. the prob is that girls go overboard w/the amount used. a lil gloss and powder on the nose to get rid of shine does wonders...no need to pack it on so u look unrecognizable. EGADS!
