The cheapest to run is the Ford Fiesta TDCi Diesel. The next is the Hyundai Viva CRDi Diesel. Both give about 25km/liter on the highway. But they come with high upfront costs.
The lowest upfront cost is for the Tata Indica Diesel Turbo. Does not have the common rail technology, but delivers about 17~20 kmpl.

the cheapest car to run in india is REVA...which runs on electricity with a top speed of 60kmph..and it costs around 70,000 rupees...
