Its something which you have to sit down and explain to them. If you are uncomfortable about addressing the whole family, then speak to them one/two at a time. If you are uneasy about your family, then get some LGBT friends and come out to them - knowing that you've got people on your side will make it easier to come out to other people (including your family).
You're probably feeling uneasy because you lied to them. Chances are, you also lied to yourself. You need to explain this to them, and mention how difficult it is coming out in a homophobic society. You only have to look at the amount of LGBT counselling resources to appreciate the difficulty LGBT people have in coming out.

Congratulations on being ready to come out. It is a big step - probably one of the biggest things you will do in your life. You have to do it when you are ready and when it is appropriate.
My parents latched on that I was gay. I ended up writing a letter saying that I was, that it doesn't change how I love them, that I had felt that way for a long time etc.
I wrote it in a letter because we were always told if you couldn't say something or had to many things to say and didn't want to forget anything, the latter was the problem for me, then we should write it down.

The only way to tell them is to tell them. Pick a time and a place. Open your mouth. Then say, "I'm gay." Honestly, there's no easy way to do it. And that is why some people are afraid of doing it. If you're not ready yet, that's your business. But if you never do it, you'd be a coward and a liar, in my opinion.

I started with my sisters, then my mother. My father found out on his own. He caught me with a girl in my room. Nothing too intimate though. But it was a long time coming already. They weren't even surprised when I came out to them. I guess I was that obvious to them. Hopefully, your family will be the same. Best of luck!

My favorite is to say:
"I have some big news for you. I have 6 months to live"
After the shocked reactions say "Not really, but I am gay"
OR since Thanksgiving is coming up how about, "Mom, could you pass the yams to a homosexual?"

Personally, I think it is best to talk to each person one on one. I did this when I came out and it was so much easier for everyone involved. It gave everyone an opportunity to ask me questions, share their concerns (and even confess a few things that actually shocked the **** outta me.)
Things turned out so well for me that no I wish I could have went back and came out sooner!

I never really told them I just decided not to completely hide it anymore and they eventually figured it out but i must say certain family members such as my grandparents still dont know because they told me if i ever came out as being gay they would disown me.

Look for a moment when every one is relaxed.Say I have something very important to say.The sooner the better,I
have a son who did not tell me until he was 30.I cried
thinking he spent his life hiding. How sad to hide from your
own family,I wish he had told me when he was 16.Good Luck
