YES! Your computer is showing the right count, 96 MB. Because, 2 RAMs of 64 MB each, means 128 MB total. Every normal PC needs 32 MB RAM for shared memory, for it's motherboard.

So...

2 x 64 MB RAM = 128 MB - 32 MB Shared Memory == 96 MB.

I hope, this answer helps you understanding the computer structure and it's needs for RAM.

:-)

If all you have installed is 128 meg (with 96 showing) it's seriously time to consider donating that dinosaur to the simthonean and getting a new pc.

i would like to add to what is already said..it is not the mother board that shares the memory..rather it is the on-board video memory on the mobo that is sharing it..

if u install a dedicated/separate.. video/graphics card then u will get back ur 32mb of ram
