Tawau is in the southern part of Sabah, north of Borneo, just beside Celebes Sea[Laut Sulawesi]. If not mistaken MAS/Airasia fly to Tawau, nothing much there, may be Tawau Hills Park, normally the stop-over for those who wanted to visit Sipadan Islands[in fact Semporna is much nearer to Sipadan]
If you wanted to visit Sabah, you should go to Kota Kinabalu, many of the attraction are near-by eg. Mountain Kinabalu ,Tunku Abdul Rahman Park n Nexus Resort Karambunai or Labuan may be.

Tawau is located in the South East of Sabah, Malaysia. abt 45 minutes by plane from the sate capital, Kota Kinabalu.
its the most boring and lame place in Sabah,and in Malaysia too.

Its quite a sleepy town.
