My girlfriend, about a month ago, went to the doctor and was prescribed a stronger birth control pill. The next month, she missed her period, and has pregnancy-like symptoms and I'm worried she could be pregnant. Could switching to a stronger pill cause this or anything else?

You can skip a period when switching BC because it plays with a girls hormones. If I were ya'll I would buy an over the counter pregnancy test just to be safe. Depending on the results (positive) I would then have her consult a doctor.

The birth control pill could be causing it.
If she changed and wasn't given the required waiting month or skipped a couple days... Then I would go see a doctor.

It is not uncommon for a woman to skip one, or even several periods, while switching forms of hormonal birth control. Though, it would not be a bad idea to have her take a home pregnancy test, if for nothing else than peace of mind.

She is probably pregnant. Many women become pregnant when switching birth control methods because they are left unprotected for a few days. She may have ovulated during that time. When you switch you have to be EXTRA careful. Better to use two methods at once for a month then no method for a few days. Sorry.

If she took the new pills exactly as prescribed, chances of her being pregnant are very very small. She should call the place where she got the pills and ask them if she needs an exam just to make sure she is not pregnant.

She couldve gotten preg during the switch. It takes over a week for the pill to become effective.

You body has to adjust to a stronger strength of birth control and that could be side effects but I would have her take a test to be positive....
