I think it's not only pompous, but unrealistic to believe other "intelligent" life doesn't exist out there--but as for STARS.
One night on the beach in Baja (vacation with bf & his son) his son & I were looking up. Stars are incredibly beautiful in Baja. & so fascinating--we both came up with the same thought. Since stars are so many, many light years away, we're probably looking at LONG DEAD stars. Ghosts of stars. & for some added drama, he suggested perhaps ALL the stars were gone & all that space was actually empty! It was fun.

Yes, there's nothing better than laying in an open field with no lights around, I could stare at the stars for hours with wonder and amazement

Your not the only one to think that. I have wondered the same thing. Its weird but some kind of life form could be out there. Maybe in a different solar system, who know.

When you look at the stars, you're looking back in time.
If you take a look at the big dipper when you turn 70, the light that you see originally left the constellation during the year that you were born.
