Well, ppl don't join Sororities just to meet guys. They also join it for the housing and the experience. And clubs aren't lame, people who do nothing with their time are lame. There's nothing wrong with taking up a hobby by joining a club.

i dont know who told you that joininga club was lame but someone once old me that "embarrassment is a sign or insecurity!" obviously those people have issues being associated with others that "society" doesnt deem cool.
